A scientist is first a thinker, who enquires into the nature of the world around him without any bias towards a particular answer. Then he is a an evaluator who has to judge the different possibilities with the yardstick of experimental results. Finally he is a communicator and has to present his findings to others and defend his ideas against logical counter-points raised by his colleagues. Stage 1 has Theoretical Tasks wherein one needs to brood over the question, research the issue from books or the internet, form an approach to solve the question and then crack the puzzle one piece at a time. Sometimes you may not reach a conclusion, but it is equally important to judge the approach and the thinking of the student. Stage 2 is the acid test of all scientific theories - the Practical Task. Students will be given access to necessary apparatus in a lab and an assignment to perform in about 4 hours. The student is expected to devise a method of arriving at the solution. Top 10 percentile get the certificate & prize, while the topper gets the Abhinav Star. | Scroll below for details of various rounds Theoretical - Task Submission (Std 8 To 12) 22 Dec, 09:00 AM Ends - 03 Jan, 05:00 PM Tasks will range from math and physics to engineering, chemistry to biotechnology, geology to astronomy. The student should tackle as many of the problems as possible. Each task will require little knowledge of school curriculum. It will be rather exploratory, wherein the student may look up the net or any book for the solution. Student will have to present the solution with some justification of his/her approach. Student should submit the task either by mailing / emailing it to us or submitting a hand-written copy to the office. Top 20 percent students will make it to the next stage. Practical - Practical (Std 8 To 12) 14 Jan, 09:00 AM to 01:00 PM Students will be given few tasks from from different areas of science. The student may have to design the experiment from defining & arrange the apparatus to deciding the technique. The student will be given about 3 hours to finish the tasks. Instrumentation skills, understanding of principles and application of curricular knowledge will be observed. Top 10 percentile students will receive the certificate and the prize, while the topper gets the Star. Stage 2 Result - 24 Jan, 04:00 PM
