A Dancer performs chiefly to liven up his/her own mind and body. The steps, the fluidity of movement, the grace, the vigor are the abilities of the dancer that enthrall the audience. All the same, no dancer can perform well unless, he/she is fully engrossed in the performance, which is possible only when he/she understands the connection between the music and the steps. Although classical dances are tough and require years of training, almost every kind of dance requires the above-mentioned skills. A trained dancer may have variety, speed & fluidity in his/her steps & postures, but grace, vigor & involvement distinguish even the amateur dancer. A dancer must understand his/her own capacity of expression and motion while choosing the performance. At a later stage a natural dancer must be able to grasp some part of a new style of dance, when shown, and must be able to dance accordingly. An older student must also be able to grasp the rhythm or beat of a new music when given a few minutes to hear. Thus a talented G3 dancer must be able to dance to a new music. Language or type of music used is immaterial.
